It can easily go like this....They start out on an anti depresent...this makes them gain some weight .........they're scripted something to speed up the old metabilism after all how dare someone just watch what they eat or excersize for 5 minutes a day. Now they can't sleep so they quickly go on a narcotic to "Knock them out" at the end of the day...but now they can't get up in the morning....so the list of ailments grow and pretty soon they need a freaking steel safe to store their drugs so that their own gen Y son or daughter can't pop them all in yet another fleeting suicide bid concerning something about "not wanting to take a test the next day". End of story and now the once productive member of society who felt a little "blue" is now on complete disability. Strung out on a half a dozen assorted uppers and downers. True story! Go ahead and blame the "pharmacuetical machine" or your greedy Doctor on the take from such giant money making, dividen paying, international conglomerates, as Merck or Pfizer.
But I digress
like I said I would (ToppersBazaar offers a full apology and swears to go on ritalin or adderal so that we can remain focussed for longer than 2 seconds)                                                                               The fact is it is the same media hype machine that turns regular soccer moms into drooling pill heads is the same fountain of knowledge society blindly guzzles information from. Willing to believe it all. All of the bullshit which has directly led us down the path to where we are today in the great traditionless midwest. this veritable wasteland of youth. Why so wasted? Why such a waste? you might ask if you still give a shit about anyone else but yourself. It's the parents people.... it's the parents! When someone owns an out of control dog we blame the owner right? So how is a parent any less responsable for this child. One who is so proud of their GED that they get it embossed in gold and frame it. An achievment which demonstrates a complete lack of initiative has become a symbol of "success". These socialy inept card carrying felons, our modern offspring have just about lost they're complete ability to give a shit about anything. Walking around, assess on full display, slumped over with a stature that purveys a sense that just carrying around they're own bodies is to much to ask from them.
         A metaphor came to me the other day describing the difference between societies that have some tradition to fall back on ( a sort of invisible force that binds us together in a very specific ORDER as to what come next in ones life. this keeps society moving along in a productive manner. Now the older an more established regions in our world have this order. A perfect example would be Germany with it's ageless traditions which bind children to their families and their country giving them the motivation to work hard in the process of glorifying each of those institutions. Our own North east. Boston, New York, Philadelphia, washington. these are places with a tangible past and an ensuing future .....a "drumbeat"..... if you will. Remember how people would describe someone who is different as someone who marches to a different drumbeat. it's true back east and in Europe or India for that matter (the country with the largest middle class on earth surpassing us on their wat to becoming an affluent country.)
       Now what this drumbeat is is that sense create by expectation to BE SOMETHING to MAKE something out of ones own life. Back east you were not only marching foward but you had a clear and present track to follow. You had an older brother a cousin or simply your own parents who would relentlessly and endlessly chide you into being all you can be. A path that included going to school and finishing school. If school was not for you . You can betchyer ass that the person has their "trade" or what-not figured out by the time they graduate college. Even the school guidence counselors are "on you" from day one of school as far as figuring out your own vocation. Anyhow I tried to figure out what "drumbeat" these lost midwest souls march to and that is when it struck me. That was the problem in an allegorical nutshell. There is NO DRUMBEAT AROUND HERE. Kids just aimlessly walk in circles in search for the next fleeting "high" thinking and hoping this lifestyle will carry them through life. Throwing themselves against this invisable wall known as life and constantly winding up on the ground wondering what went wrong. All the while life marches right on by. The past generations and the out of towners with their belief systems that include working hard and achieving. moving constantly foward in attempt to carve meaning out of the reality given to each of us. Yup it's invisable and if you don't march along with it you can only march against it and it is hard, harder than anything on earth to watch as progress marches on, leaving you in a dustbowl with a sky that is a million square miles big adding to the growing sense of meaningless. You become a mere speck amongst the giant wheel of life forevor cranking foward forevor leaving you behind. The problem is this great midwest system has no horizen in several ways. No past or future only the great wide open skies filled with nothing but NOW. "Y" can't we have it now? "Y" do i need to show a proper succession of jobs on paper? Y do I need to earn a degree in school when it's so easy just to go take the GED test. The fact is the world doesn't need you to have this shining resume' with it's examples of achievements because of what skills each area brings or the knowledge picked up in this or that class. College degrees and resume's are for one thing only. To show how long a person can "stick something out" before "burning out". For instance achieving a 4 year degree shows that ine can start school and finish it. It implies the character most desired in an employee. The ability to get on board with something and stay on board for as long as possible. The specific skills concerning most jobs have little to do with what was learned in a specific sense. But, if you have succeeded in staying with certain jobs while you stay with certain schools the people hiring know you have what it takes to learn a system and stick with it.
     Now think of the chjild who has no DRUMBEAT whatsoever to march along with. No clear path to follow. Chances are the siblings are just as lost as eachother so you can't follow in your "brother or sisters footsteps" when they only lead in circles innevitably winding up back in the basement. Bong in hand, Xboxes and play stations humming along. A droning sound which best exemplifies the static nature of they're lives. Now as I said befor the guilt the parents feel makes them unable to imbibe a belief system onto they're children which entails finishing things that they start. Now when the parents do instil this character they do it automatically because that is how they were raised. Whenever the system breaks down the information ceases to pass from one generation to the next. I am stunned at how afraid parents are these days of losing the "love' of they're own chidren not realizing all along that they are slapping a death sentence on each and everyone of them.
Our modern day adolescence. A mixed bag Child who cares about nothing more than the next bag of weed or the next freeby from Mom or Dad whoever the bigger sucker is I guess. Now all I know is that these freaks are dropped off on my front door seeking employment. The only problem is they have non of the needed skills in order to be worth 2 dollars an Hour much less 7, 8, or 9. Again I blame the parents and society.
